FOWEY
The town of Fowey dates back hundreds of years and as well as being an historic town it is a commercial seaport. The picturesque harbour leads up to the narrow winding streets lined with shops, houses and pretty cottages with their window boxes bursting with colourful flowers. The harbour is flanked by two fourteenth century blockhouses. A passenger ferry connects Fowey and Polruan and further along the river a car ferry runs between Fowey and Bodinnick.Daphne Du Maurier found inspiration in Fowey to write her novels Rebecca, Frenchman's Creek, The House on the Strand etc. and every year the town hosts the Daphne Du Maurier Festival.
