PERRANPORTH & PORTHTOWAN

Porthtowan is a small seaside village between St Ives and Newquay on the North Cornish coast.  Over the years Porthtowan has developed a reputation for excellent surfing, a family friendly Blue Flag beach ideal for children exploring the rock pools and for swimming.  Also the Blue Bar on the beach has live music, good food and is ideal for a cocktail watching the sunset go down.  Nearer the centre is a children friendly pub with play area, a local store, deli, post office, beach shops where surfing and beach equipment can be hired and an art gallery.

From Porthtowan there are several coastal walks through National Trust land and the South West Coastal Path takes walkers down towards St Ives and up towards Newquay.  Good day trips include The Eden Project (25 miles), Truro with its magnificent cathedral, shops and restaurants (8 miles). St Ives with its artist studios and the Tate Gallery (12 miles).  Further up the coast visit Newquay the surfing mecca, or enjoy the gastronomic delights of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen at Watergate Bay just outside Newquay or 12 miles further on, Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant at Padstow.
